Collaborating with communities to educate and create change.

Making a Difference Through Education

  • First Responders

We educate social workers, law enforcement, educators, and members of the judicial system. We see these public servants as first responders.

  • Community Advocates

Our goal is to partner with community advocates to raise awareness of trafficking issues in West Michigan and empower them to engage victims.

  • Teens

We put tools and information in the hands of at risk teens that help them recognize warning signs of trafficking, fight back, and stop this traffic.

Community Advocates

To end sex trafficking, we need to end the demand for victims. By reaching out to the community through awareness presentations and partnerships with organizations and businesses, we confront the demand and empower citizens to end slavery in their neighborhoods. We’re inviting these groups to engage with Wedgwood’s Manasseh Project:

  • Faith-based Communities: Churches and religious organizations

Businesses: Local enterprises and financial organizations

    Policy makers and coalitions

  • Social Organizations: Rotary Club, Mentoring Groups, Greek Societies, etc.

    Colleges, universities and professors.

Romeo Pimping

Romeo Pimping is a technique used by pimps to control victims through psychological manipulation.  Pimps will trick the victim into believing that they are in a relationship with them or care for their well-being.  They may buy them nice things, take them out to nice places and even create a bond with family and friends. Our Romeo social justice experiments shows how easy a person can become comfortable with a stranger!

Teens

While educating youth promotes their safety, our faith in them extends beyond their ability to stay safe. We believe that educating and empowering youth is key to ending the trafficking of people. Middle school, high school and college students are a powerful group! Our hope is to empower and to activate them to engage this social injustice.

  • At-risk youth: Facilitating groups that empower children already in social systems (CMH, DHHS, and Juvenile Justice)

  • K-12 students: Engaging students where they are by making age-appropriate presentations and allowing them to use their imaginations to solve this issue.

  • Youth Leaders: Empowering these leaders to educate their peer community, offering the next generation a chance to end slavery.
